The Sustainability and Climate Change Group (S&CC) is a topic group endorsed by HEF to support collaboration around environmental sustainability.

The S&CC Group builds on the work of two previous HEF Task Groups. It brings together organisations to coordinate strategic thinking, and share learning and knowledge on sustainability and climate action. It provides a sector-wide forum to exchange practical challenges and advices on sustainability.

The group can suggest, examine, recommend and help to implement proposals, both reactively and proactively, to ensure that:

• The historic environment is considered in, and can contribute to, wider ‘green’ policies;
• The sector’s responsiveness and preparedness to climate change is improved, thereby reducing the risk to heritage assets and the historic environment and maximising the environmental benefit that heritage reuse can deliver.
